Things I've Learned In My Life So Far

Yesterday I was invited to one of swedens first media houses. As some of you might know I often speak about future communication and business development. Not this time! Instead I had the honor to focus solely on myself and how I've built my career. Inspiration was the goal and I hope I did the job.Anyway, following a short presentation where I more or less outlined my life and some of my achievements I wrapped it up with 11 learnings, 1 rule and one purpose that I've lived my life by. And now I'm sharing it with you.1. Curiosity might have killed the cat - but it'll save your lifeMy first and maybe most important asset - curiosity. As far as I've remembered I've loved life. Every little bit of it.2. Follow your inner voiceI've often been wrong. I've been right some times. But I've never been more wrong than when I've done things I havent believed in myself. Those are the times my life has gone in the wrong direction.3. Saying no is more important than saying yes.A tough lesson to learn. It's darn hard to say no to people. But saying yes when in fact you should have said no is worse. Think about it. If you say yes to something that you really don't wanna do, you might actually be caught up in delivering on that promise while the opportunities that you would have loved passes you by.4. Take risksRisks are great. The make you focused.5. In order to succeed you've gotta fail.Better try 10 times and fail than not trying at all. You'll learn something from each and every failure. But not trying won't teach you jack shit.6. Creativity is the opposite of routine.Back in the days when I was snowboarding there's specifically one event that I'll never forget. Sometime around 1987 the snowboards all had a tail since way back, Then suddenly that year I watched a snowboard movie. In that movie Jeff Brushie and some of the other Burton team members were riding fakie (backwards). Wow! Imagine. People had been riding those boards equipped with tail tips but still no one had tried to ride them backwards. Creativity is the opposite of routine - we were stuck in routine and just didn't think about riding those boards backwards.7. Björn Borg Business (or John McEnroe if you will)Have you ever seen Björn Borg or John McEnroe stop while approaching a ball only to ask their trainer how to hit it. Then why should you stop and wait. Treat each and every situation in life as your in a tennis game, running for the net. Hit it. And if you miss, train after the game has been lost.8. Tell other people about your goals in life.I published a story a couple fo9. Sharing your knowledge. This is.10. The world changes every day and so should you.Halvering av kunskap!11. Be positive.Open doors.“We have a ‘strategic plan.’ ?It’s called doing things.” - Herb Kelleher, Southwest Airlines. One purpose: Our children!
