Early this morning I stood in the ‘Story’ bar in central Stockholm and explained to one of my friends what Twitter is all about. As I explained trending topics I noticed RIP MJ hitting the charts and of course Tweeted it myself.

Michael had been declared dead only minutes earlier when people went crazy on Twitter. According to Ethan Zuckerman 15% of all posts on Twitter mentioned Michael Jackson. He saw Iran or the swine flu reach over 5%.

My real first memory of Michael goes back to 1984. Michael Jackson had just reinvented music video with Thriller. I loved it and I’ve loved Michael Jackson ever since.

Michael was the king of my generation just like Elvis Presley was the king of his. Rest in peace my one and only superstar!

“Greatest entertainer of all time!” What a joke. He was an energetic chorus boy with the voice of a squeally young girl. His music was only slightly less boring than that of James Brown, the “Godfather of Sweat.”
In 1990, Jackson paid 2 million to a young boy in an out-of-court settlement. In 1993, he paid 23 million to another young boy. Jackson’s security guard testified that he saw Jackson performing oral sex on the boy. In 2005, Jackson lost a civil child molestation case and had to pay 20 million to a 3rd accuser. This funeral/memorial is really disgusting. If you listen to that irrelevant slob Al Sharpton, you’d think Jacko was the greatest thing since Christ. But let’s face it, Jackson is probably burning in hell right now.

I am not a big fan of McNair but if you check it out you will find that more people saw him play football than people saw Jackson in concert. Yet, McNair, was murdered while Jackson died at his on hand using dangerous drugs. Why the difference. Six days of constant coverage of Jackson and about 2 hours total on McNair.

I was a massive fan as a kid and had ‘Man In The Mirror’ on a loop. I moved away from ‘Michael’ music when the controversy hit but a massive fan I met at uni got me back into his stuff. I made a short animation tribute a week or so ago when he died. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QW_OyMelxDg

I really like your blog and I wanted you to know about our new website, timelines.com, where we’ve started a timeline about Michael Jackson at http://timelines.com/topics/michael-jackson. Our idea is to create an interactive historical record of anything and everything, based on specific events that combine to form timelines. We’re trying to achieve a sort of user-created multimedia encyclopedia, in which no event is too big and no event is too small, and where each event can contain various types of resources, such as video, images, maps, etc. It’s also a good way to direct traffic to your blog because your events will pop up along with anything else that’s thematically related.
