nk_nordiska_kompaniet

In Sweden our finest shopping mall is called NK or Nordiska Kompaniet. NK was founded in 1902 by Josef Sachs and his ambition was to bring together the finest merchandise in the world under one roof. This vision still stands.

I today’s morning paper (yep I still read them) this ad below advertised high fashion by Henry Cotton’s. It shows a group of young successful preppy youngsters celebrating a good days hunting. At least it looks that way. The walls are covered by stuffed animals out of Africa.

Of course I get the whole idea behind this ad. And the positioning probably is right in some ways. But hey! This, to me, is advertising from the stone age. In my world this is totally inappropriate and stands for something I think [click to continue…]

The Lamborghini Miura – A timeless car

What makes an object timeless? Why in some cases do we all end up liking something so much so it rises from being just another thing to instead becoming culture? Certain designs and certain objects has that little extra, they’re like an open fire – we can’t stop staring. And what’s even more strange is that [click to continue…]

Formula one may be the most expensive sport in the world and only a few of us will ever steer one of those super cars. This season a lot of new rule changes has been implemented in order to increase the interest for F1. But how do we, the everyday people understand what those changes are all about?

This great video that I found over at Infosthetics takes you on a ride you wont forget. We’re seated along with F1 Red Bull racing team driver Sebastian Vettel who explains what the new rules are all about. While doing so he of course positions Reb Bull as a pretty cool racing team.

“We only got 8 engines per season, that means the engines has to last 3 races instead of 2”

Poor bastards!

Today his Majesty King Carl Gustav was proud to announce that princess Victoria was getting engaged to her boyfriend Daniel Westling.

This is cool both because it’s time for the girl to get married and the fact that the King did it on YouTube. It’s obviously not only Barack Obama that has gotten the idea with social media…

Only minutes after the announcement the Official Royal Court site went down hasn’t come up since.

Hmm. Tonight at 5PM Swedish time it’s time for a press conference. I wonder if we can follow it on Twitter!

When I was a young boy my passion among other things were airplanes. Big ones, small ones, fast ones & slow ones. It didn’t really matter as long as they contained some kind of innovation. Sadly most of my favorite ones were military jets. As with many other fields the army were heading the pack in terms of innovations due to the cold war. Today this is not really the case. Of course the military innovates, but the time for wow innovations seems to be over and in the field of military jets it’s the F16, the Apache and the F117 that rule, the same ones I was keeping track of when I was 15 years old.

When it comes to gadgets my focus has instead turned otherwhere. Lately I’ve been amazed with gadgets coming out of the toy industry. These guys are on a innovation spree. Of course they’re after my money but if they continue the way they’re being going lately I’m all for it.  Here are three toys that show [click to continue…]

fashion_new_york_the_sartorialist

For quite some time now I’ve been thinking about serving you all my favorite style tip. Don’t know why I haven’t taken the time but here we go.

There’s a blog out there called the Sartorialist. What began as a way for Scott Schuman to share photos of people that he saw on the streets of New York that he thought looked great ended up being one of the worlds most influential style spotters.

The concept of the Sartorialist is simple yet genius. Basically it’s about spotting everyday people that look stunning, take their picture and publish it on the blog. And the concept has turned out to be a success. The Sartorialist has been featured in Vogue, Velvet, Style, and Esquire. Since some time back the blog has even earned Scott a monthly page in GQ. Last year his blog was also selected by Time Magazine as one of the worlds Top 100 design influencers.

Wow – that’s what a blog can do for you!

So, if you’re looking to shape up, follow the latest trends of simply eye some nice looking people. Put that rss from the Sartorialist into your reader. You won’t regret it (although your wallet might)

lifeboat_change_advertising_sinking

Let me break it to you right away – the old way of planning and executing communication is slowly sinking into the ocean of well paid consultants that doesn’t do shit for your brand and the best you can do is throw yourselves into the lifeboats, get your ass to land and then find something else that makes your brand travel – and it’s not another boat.

You see, in order to paddle on to this new wave of communication you’ve gotta get different gear, different muscles and find new spots and this requires totally new ways of thinking. It’s not really about finding better creatives, cause the creative people out there are top notch, that’s not what I’m saying – I’m talking about choosing problem [click to continue…]

Right now I’m stuck in a meeting. But I just have to post quickly about Pirate Bay being on trial i Stockholm.

What’s stunning with the whole thing is not the fact that media is following the trial intensely but instead it’s the everyday people who are interested. Pirate Bay has set up a site where you can follow the trial in channels like Twitter and Swedish Bloggy.

In Twitter the conversation is intense and there’s 100’s of updates every minute.

This is a new era in public interest!

For you Swedes out there, head over to SameSameButDifferent and learn more about the circus.
